Volunteer Assistant

samflamont:

This is my title on the Central Michigan University baseball coaching staff.  Questions I have received from some people about this position are:

-What is a volunteer assistant?

-What are your responsibilities?

-Are you actually a coach?

-Do you make any money?

A volunteer assistant is an actual coaching position that most Universities have on staff.  A volunteer assistant is basically an internship and the place most assistant and head coaches start.  I am very thankful for this opportunity and look forward to learning and working closely with coaches who have been successful at the college level.

I am actually a coach, I am a volunteer coach meaning there is no salary to go with this job.  The main focus of this job is to learn the ins and outs of college coaching.  I will be on the field, I will travel with the team, and work with players at practice. I will give lessons and work camps in order to make money, but that is not the focus at this point in time.  I want to be a college coach for a long time and this is a great place to start.  I am working with a coaching staff who has been around the game for a long time, and I have a lot to learn about coaching at this level.

Things I will post on here are normal posts like I always do, video, product reviews, tips, and MLB Talk.  There will be no postings about the inner workings of the office, private coaching conversations, player info, who is being recruited, or any other private conversations.  If you like what is on this blog already then you will be happy with what is coming out.  Thanks for reading.

I will still use this blog to pass along valuable information for coaches and players and hope to help you make wise decisions as consumers.  I hope you all enjoy Baseball Around The Clock and you will continue reading it, I look forward to continued interaction with all the readers.
